Is Counselling Right For Me?

It's completely normal to wonder whether counselling is the right step. Many of our clients felt unsure before reaching out. You don't have to be in crisis to benefit from support. If life feels harder than it used to, you're carrying more than you can manage alone, or you simply want a safe place to talk, counselling may help.

  1. I've never seen a counsellor before.
That's okay—many people haven't. You don't need to know what to say or how counselling works. We'll guide you through the process at a pace that feels comfortable, with no pressure or expectations.

  2. Is what I'm experiencing serious enough?
If it's affecting your wellbeing, relationships, work, or daily life, it's important enough. You don't have to wait until things get worse before seeking support. Counselling can help with everyday challenges as well as more complex concerns.

  3. What if I cry?
Crying is a natural response when talking about difficult experiences. Some people cry, some laugh, some sit quietly, and some don't become emotional at all. There is no right or wrong way to be in counselling. You're welcome exactly as you are.

  4. What happens in the first session?
The first session is about getting to know you. We'll talk about what's brought you here, what you'd like support with, and what you're hoping will change. You can ask questions, share only what you feel comfortable sharing, and decide whether we're the right fit. There's no pressure to tell your whole story in one session.

  5. What if I'm not sure where to start?
That's more common than you might think. You don't need to have everything figured out before you come. Sometimes people arrive knowing exactly what's troubling them, while others just know something doesn't feel right. We'll work together to make sense of it.

You don't have to navigate life's challenges alone. If you're wondering whether counselling could help, we'd love to have a conversation with you. Taking the first step can feel daunting, but it may also be the beginning of feeling lighter, more understood, and more like yourself again.
